Least Favourite Product – Day 22 of the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge

glossybox moisturiserThis is by far my least favourite product that I’ve had my hands on lately. It’s the Astral original face and body moisturiser. I got this in the Iconic Hollywood Edition of the Glossybox that was themed around 1950s beauty.

Glossybox described this product like this…

” This versatile, rich moisturising cream has been a firm favourite amongst Hollywood stars and make-up artists alike since its creation in the 1950s – and we’re not surprised. Perfect for all ages, Astral hydrates deep below the skin’s surface and can even be used to remove make-up!”

Initially, my thoughts were that this is a product that has been on the market for about 60 years, then it must be good. I opened it, had a whiff, then though, “yep, they didn’t change the scent.” I was keen on trying it since I thought it would revolutionise my skin care regime, but… no.

It’s a very thick consistency and it feels very greasy. I’m one for trying things and I fist tried this to remove makeup (as Glossybox suggested) and no, it wasn’t working. I thought, fine, I don’t expect a moisturiser to remove my makeup really. So I removed my makeup and applied this as my moisturiser. My skin felt all clogged up and like it can’t breathe. As you can imagine, the next day I woke up to find that a new mountain had erected itself on my face.

I thought I’d try it as a body moisturiser. Again, it felt very greasy. This time, however, I also noticed that after I showered, my skin still looked and felt dry. This product makes me feel greasy but it doesn’t actually hydrate deep below the skin surface as Glossybox suggested.

Essentially, this is my lease favourite product because it’s useless for my skin. It might work for others, but my skin and Astral Original simply don’t get along.

Favourite Nail Polish – Day 21 of the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge

Screen Shot 2015-07-02 at 18.49.35For Day 21 of the #30DaysOfBeautyChallenge I  have my favourite nail polish. I love these Ciaté paint pots and I couldn’t just choose one colour. They are highly pigmented, smooth nail polishes with a glossy finish, and they last about a week on my nails. One coat of these is enough for a full coverage and that’s what makes them my favourite polishes.

The two baby ones on the top are the colours The Gossip and Kiss Chase. The two bottom ones are in Ditch the Heels and Speed Dial.  I couldn’t get the colours right in this photo and I really think that it doesn’t do them justice. Both The Gossip and Speed Dial are orange colours. Speed Dial is a pumpkin orange colour, perfect for wearing on Halloween whereas The Gossip is a more peachy orange. Ditch the Heels is a blue toned green colour that I loved wearing in March for St. Patrick’s day. Kiss Chase is a pink (with coral undertones) very similar to OPI’s Suzi’s Hungary AGAIN! in colour but I find it to be more pigmented.

I really love the bow detail on the bottles. These are my favourite colours to wear for summer. If you haven’t tried these paint pots I certainly recommend them!

My Favourite Product – Day 14 of the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge

This is honestly a tough one. How do I cut down all my products to come up with one product that I can all my favourite?

I’m torn between a few things but I’m going to settle on the Sephora Lip Cream Stain in 03. This is also my favourite lipstick and I wrote a post about this and you can read it here.

The reason why I chose this particular product is because I have tried tons of lipstick formulas, and this is certainly my favourite.

The other products that was considering for this post are the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge that I adore, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, the Mac Paint Pot in soft ochre and the Mac Pro Longwear concealer. For the first three products, I don’t feel like I’ve used enough similar products to be able to say that they’re distinctly the best I found on the market and I don’t know what I’d do without them. For the Mac concealer, I haven’t found a better product on the market but I detest the packaging so no, I won’t let it park its ass in my favourite product spot.

The Sephora lip cream stain is practically faultless in my eyes and SO underrated. It’s very affordable, great product, great packaging and it’s matte. I like that it’s matte since it gives me the option of wearing it matte or putting a gloss over it. I also have the little history of chasing as many colours of this line as possible so yes, it’s certainly my favourite.
