Skincare products you can’t live without

First off, lip balms! I have perpetually dry lips that need constant hydration. No matter how much water I drink, my lips seem to just want to dry out. Here are two lip balms that actually do it for me. The Nuxe Reve de Miel is my night time balm because it’s quite thick and has a bit of a colour to it. It stays on all night and if my lips are a bit chapped, this sorts it out by the morning. The only down side to this is that it comes in a pot.

The second lip balm is one I’ve previously finished and repurchased. It’s the Jack Black intense therapy lip balm in natural mint. I wear this throughout the day because it’s thinner, a  bit glossy and completely transparent. Of course, since I’ve repurchased this, it certainly works well for me 🙂

Next up is an eye cream that I really need to rave about. This brand is new to me, Arad.  I received this in a PR package along with a few other skincare products from Arad. I love the brand but this cream really takes the cake for quite possibly the best eye cream I’ve ever tried. First off, it’s huge in size and it’s very affordable. Secondly, from the first time I’ve worn this at night, I’ve woken up with beautifully plump skin around by eyes.  I’ve worm eye creams that are a lot more expensive than this, and I own a stash of more fancy and expensive eye creams that I receive for PR purposes, but this is the eye cream I put on when I really want to get the job done. It works really well for me.

Next up is this moisturiser from Lierac Paris. I won this in a small blogging competition and since I received it I haven’t stopped using it. I’ve almost finished the jar and I’ll certainly be repurchasing the next jar myself. This is a very light gel-cream moisturiser that simply does the job. It keeps me hydrated, it’s not too rich for me, it’s a moisturiser that’s perfect for my combination skin. It also contains oxygen and since the air in Malta is quite polluted, having pure oxygen in my moisturiser is certainly a plus since it’s an anti-inflammatory, helps collagen production and overall helps the skin to function better.

If you’re looking for some new skincare products, you should certainly consider these 🙂

Imedeen Launch in Malta

Most skin care nuts who read this blog would have heard about the skin’s collagen. As we age, collagen declines and our skin weakens and wrinkles. There are many anti ageing skincare products that contain collagen, but any topical cream can only penetrate through the first couple of layers of skin. Imedeen is a skincare product that is taken orally, and this helps collagen production from within, in order to be able to generate collagen further down that just the first couple of layers of skin.

There are three types of Imedeen capsules, and in order to decide which one is right for you, you can get a skin consultation. Here are some pictures of me doing my skin consultation where a gel was rubbed on my skin, and a device took some images from my skin.

Turns out that my skin’s collagen is doing alright! 😀

In the image above you can see the dark (black or dark brown) areas… That’s collagen. I even have some stored further down in my lower layers of skin.

Below you can see images from a clinical study about collagen levels and how they improve with Imedeen. After 12 months you can see a significant increase in the collagen in the top and lower layers of the skin.

Based on this consultation, I got 60 derma one tablets that are intended for ages 25+. I will start taking 2 tablets of these every morning for a month and then I can go back to get my skin scanned to check out how my collagen levels are doing 🙂

This product sounds plausible. I’m going to try it out and I’ll let you know how I get along.

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil Review

Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Oil

Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Oil

I recently purchased this NUXE Dry Oil from Feelunique, mainly because I love the brandNUXE and  because I saw Tati from Glam Life Guru talking about it. (I love her!)

I had this for about four weeks now and it’s time for a review!

This is indeed what it says on the tin. It’s an oil that when I apply it and rub it into my skin, my skin feels dry and non greasy after it is absorbed.

This oil comes in a 50ml glass bottle with a plastic stopper. It’s very easy to dispense one drop at a time.

It smells like Jasmine and this is something I love about it because it almost works like my first layer of perfume and Jasmine is by far my favorite floral scent. It reminds me of the time I lived in India and used to walk by a lady threading jasmine flowers on the street on my way to work. The street smelt divine everyday.

Back to this oil. I find that it hydrates my arms and body but somehow, my legs (particularly from the knee down) are drier than than the rest of my body. This does help moisturise them but the moisture doesn’t last a full 24 hours.

I have used thisNUXE dry oil on my face under foundation or as a moisturiser and it hasn’t broken me out or irritated my skin. I’ve also used this on my hair and it works beautifully for taming some fly aways.

All in all I’m really enjoying this dry oil and I see myself using more and more of this.

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask

I received this as part of a Clinique gift set from Melita Health and Beauty.

What it is:
A creamy, oil-free facial mask that helps skin drink deep overnight for a soft, dewy glow by morning.

What it is formulated to do:
This rich, penetrating night mask helps skin drink deep to replenish lost moisture, building reserves for tomorrow. Recommended for all skin types, it soothes and nourishes to help skin stay hydrated all night long, allowing you to wake up to soft, dewy, glowing skin.

Suggested Usage:
– Use nightly or as needed.
– After your skin care regimen, smooth generously and evenly over entire face.
– Gently massage until absorbed.

My Experience:
When I saw that this is an overnight mask I was expecting something like a Korean sleeping mask. When I first used this, I applied a very small blob and it completely absorbed into my skin. The second time I used this I used a more generous amount and I was left with a tacky layer over my skin till when I rinsed it off in the morning. I personally like the tacky layer over my skin because it feels like there’s something protecting and continuously hydrating my skin through the night. This has no fragrance, it’s oil free (doesn’t feel greasy) and it’s very soothing to my skin.

Since this is only a sample size, I can’t give a full review of this and I can’t tell how it would work on my skin in the long term. But I can say that my skin feels incredibly moisturised and hydrated in the morning and I think that my skin also looks plumper and my open pores look less pronounced. This didn’t break me out either.

This was nice and I’ll be buying the full size product once I use up my two  Nuxe Crème Fraîche masks that work similarly. I get the Nuxe mask for just under 25EUR for 50ml from Feelunique and this Clinique mask is 32.08EUR for 100ml. 18EUR cheaper per 100ml! Certainly worth converting to this Clinique mask.
