And here’s what it looks like blended on my hand:

This is a very lightweight concealer and as a concealer I would say that it has a medium to full coverage. It did illuminate my under eye area but for covering my dark under eye circles I do prefer to use a thicker, higher coverage concealer. In the before and after photo below, I’m wearing  BB Cream and brow product in the before photo and in the after photo I applied the concealer and set my face with translucent powder.

I do like the finish of this and how it illuminates my under eye area. My preferred way of using this is over a high coverage concealer to illuminate.

With regards to packaging, I’m not a big fan of brush tip flow through applicators because I never feel like I have enough control of how much product comes out.

In terms of longevity, this does pretty well. It does last all day without fading or creasing.

Concealer – Day 20 of the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge

Screen Shot 2015-07-01 at 18.13.00For Day 20 of the #30DaysOfBeautyChallenge here are my favourite concealers.

As you can see, some shades are too dark for me and you’ve probably guessed it, I use these shades for contouring. For the longest time, I used to use the Mac Studio Fix in NW35 to warm up my face/ contour with. It’s a good product and well loved (you can’t see the gaping hole in it from the photo) and I still haven’t hit pan on it. I like applying this with a flat foundation brush then I blend it out with my real techniques Miracle Sponge.

Recently I tried the LA Girl Pro Concealer and I decided to try out the shade Beautiful Bronze for contour. It works remarkably well and I love it. I find this more handy to use than my Mac concealer because it has a brush applicator and I don’t need a separate brush for it.  A little of this product goes a long way and I found that this doesn’t blend as easily with a brush. I used it in a recent youtube tutorial that I did where I heavily bronzed my face for a J.Lo glow, you can check it out here 🙂

Next is my trusty Mac Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20. I’ve raved about this product before and long story short, it’s my holy grail concealer but I hate the packaging.

I tried replacing my Mac Pro Longwear Concealer with the LA Girl concealers since some people on social media suggest that they’re a dupe. I love the coverage and the finish, however I find that the wear is incomparable to the Mac Pro Longwear. The other downside of the LA Girl Pro Concealer is the colour selection, I haven’t found the exact shade that I’m happy with. I use the colour Light Ivory for highlighting (when I’m being fancy) and the shade Natural for my under eyes and to cover blemishes. The shade Natural is slightly too light for me so I find that it highlights my blemishes just a little bit while my Mac Pro Longwear matches me perfectly.

I hope you enjoyed this post 🙂

My holy grail beauty products – Day 8 of the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge

Screen Shot 2015-06-19 at 20.38.24

It takes a lot for me to call a product my holy grail. For me to call something a holy grail means that I have to use it over and over and repurchase it several times. I don’t have many products like that since I like trying new things and let’s be honest, there are a lot of good products on the market and the availability of online reviews makes buying good products even easier.

In this post I’ll be talking about some products that I certainly consider to be holy grail.

First off, my Mac Pro Longwear Concealer. I’ve talked about this before so I won’t bore you with the details. The bottom line is that I can’t find a high end or drugstore concealer that lives up to this in terms of finish and wear. I love the product itself but I hate the packaging.

Another holy grail product is my Mac Soft Ochre paint pot. This paint pot does a fantastic job at keeping my eyeshadow in place. I use it as an eyeshadow base for almost every look and it makes any eyeshadow last all day. It’s also very good at cancelling out any colour on my eyelids, it gives a very flawless blank canvas to work on.

Next, my Physician’s Formula lash booster 2-in-1 eyeliner + serum. This is a brush tip eyeliner that makes applying a sharp wing extremely easy. I would repurchase this time and time again for its precision and ease of use, however I don’t like that it’s not a matte finish. If I’m going for a flawless look for photos, I like going over this with my NYC liquid liner in jet black. Yet, I wouldn’t call the NYC liner my holy grail yet. I’m still on the hunt for my holy grail matte liner.

My holy grail lip product is the Sephora Lip Cream Stain. I don’t wear this everyday because I like alternating lipsticks but this is what I compare most of my other lip products to. I’ve never found a lipstick with a better formula. Ever since I tried this lip cream stain I went on a hunt to get more (they get sold out very quickly). It’s a liquid to matte lipstick that’s very long lasting and not drying in the slightest. Recently I’ve been reading reviews about other liquid to matte lipsticks, and for all brands, there’s mention of either the product feeling heavy or drying. This is neither. My goal is to purchase all the shades, I’m just waiting for the opportunity (they’re out of stock quite often).

My holy grail brow product is the Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade in dark brown. This matches the color of my eyebrow hairs perfectly and I find it really easy to get the brow look I want (be it natural or power brow) using my trusty baby Sleek Cosmetics brow kit brush.

As to other products, I wouldn’t say that I have a holy grail foundation, blush, contour, highlight, eyeshadows, mascara, bronzer, primers, setting sprays and the business… My taste for these products highly depends on the condition of my skin (for face products) and my mood (for other products). I do have favorites but I alternate depending on what look I’m going for.

I hope you enjoyed this post and do suggest products that you think I might like.

My daily makeup products — Day 2 of the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge

Screen Shot 2015-06-14 at 12.42.07

I change up my look quite a lot but these are products that I have used practically everyday since I bought them. I didn’t include a lipstick because I wear different lipsticks everyday and you already know which one is my favourite 🙂

Here’s the list of products and mini descriptions of my relationship with them 🙂

BB Cream: Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream in No. 23. I mix this in with my matte foundation and it give me some added moisture, SPF and other benefits that come along with the BB Cream. I mainly use it for the moisture and because mixed with my matte foundation, it gives me a more natural finish while staying matte all day.

Foundation: Boots No. 7 Beautifully Matte in Warm Ivory. This is a very matte and very full coverage foundation. I don’t like wearing this by itself because it’s too much, especially for an everyday look. That said, when mixed in with my BB cream it gives me the perfect finish that lasts all day.

Concealer: Mac Pro Longwear in NW20. I’m hopelessly addicted to this concealer. It gives me an amazing perfect natural yet full coverage and doesn’t crease. I love the product but I hate the packaging. It comes in a glass container that can easily break (as I’ve seen online) and the pump isn’t great either. With foundation pumps, I can generally get half a pump of foundation if I need it. This pump is quite stiff so it’s hard to get less than one full pump of product. The LA Girl pro concealer is a very close runner up but the Mac Pro Longwear Concealer certainly beats the LA Girl concealer for its longevity.

Setting powder: Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder. I usually go for this powder or for the Ben Nye Neutral Set powder that’s white and translucent. I’ve been using this Banana powder more frequently lately and it’s because it’s more finely milled and the yellow hue helps with my redness. If I’m being fancy, I use this banana powder on my red areas and the neutral set powder on other areas that don’t need neutralising. Most days I’m lazy and just go in with one powder to set my whole face.

Highlight: The Balm Cosmetics Mary Lou-Manizer. This is certainly my new go to highlight. I used to wear the Sleek highlight from the Face Form palette but I recently bought this and it’s better by a mile. It’s more finely milled, the shimmer is more fine and if used sparingly it can look like a very natural highlight. It’s very pigmented and a little goes a long way. If you want a very highlighted look, you can certainly achieve it with this product as well.

Contour: LA Girl Pro Concealer in Beautiful Bronze. This is my new favourite contour product. I got this recently and I haven’t turned back to my other contour products since. This took me a couple of goes to figure out how to make it work for me as a contour. I found that if I use too much product it can look very muddy and brushes are not great at blending this. I use this by applying it sparingly and blending with my Real Techniques Miracle Sponge. It looks very natural on me and I love it.

Blush: Milani Blush in Coral Cove. I am really impressed with Milani products lately. I love this blush and I also love their Color Statement lipsticks. This is moulded into this gorgeous rose. I’ve used this product a lot since I got it and the rose still has it’s shape. It’s a very pigmented product and a little goes a long way. It’s very matte and it’s easy to blend. If I’m being extra fancy I like putting some of the Milani Baked blush in Luminoso over this to give this a sheen. They work really well together.

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown. I bought this product last month and I have since not touched my Sleek Eyebrow Kit. This is certainly my holy grail brow product. Working with this also has a bit of a learning curve. Using too much product with this can make brows look very drawn on. I like using it in areas where I need to fill in and I do so with a very light hand. It matches my brow colour perfectly and I think it looks very natural on me (when I’m not going for a power brow, that is).

Eyeshadow Base: Mac Cosmetics Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. This is a really perfect eyeshadow base for me. I used to use the Urban Decay Primer Potion which used to work well for giving my eyeshadows longevity. This paint pot however, works really well for giving me a blank canvas to work with and it works just as well as the Urban Decay Primer Potion for keeping my eyeshadows in place all day.

Eyeshadows: My everyday eyeshadow look varies a lot from day to day. That said, my skin toned DeliPlus eyeshadow (that I depotted and put in my Z Palette) and the shades Creme Brulee and Latte from Makeup Geek are the start of most of my everyday makeup looks.

Eyeliner: Physician’s Formula 2 in 1 Lash Booster Eyeliner + Serum in Ultra Black and NYC Liquid Liner in Jet Black. I honestly can’t get enough of my Physicians’ formula eyeliner. It’s the easiest eyeliner I’ve ever worked with. It has a brush tip and the product comes out of the brush itself in the perfect amount. It’s very easy to get a very precise line with this. The only downside to the Physician’s Formula eyeliner is that it doesn’t dry matte. I prefer a matte finish for my eyeliner and to achieve that, I go in with my NYC Liquid Liner in Jet Black for that perfect matte finish. High maintenance, I know.

Mascara: Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama. I’m currently using this mascara. I have other open mascaras that I sometimes use but this is certainly my favourite for wearing by itself. It gives me length, volume and it doesn’t flake up on me. Its downside is that it can go clumpy. I find that it’s best to use a lash comb with this to get rid of unwanted clumps.

And that’s it! I hope that you enjoyed my little descriptions of my daily makeup products. I use… A lot. I love makeup. If you ever meet me and I’m not wearing much makeup, just know that I’m probably having a very bad day.
