Flormar store opening & New Products

With Lady Davi and Stefy Puglisevich at the Event

I spent this evening at the brand spanking new Flormar store that opened right opposite Bay Street in Malta, next to the I Am accessories store. The event was to celebrate the new store and to introduce us to the new Flormar range. This is Flormar’s second shop in Malta, read about my first trip to Flormar in Paola here.

The new collection consists of the two types of BB Creams: The Blur Effect BB Cream and the Anti-Blemish BB Cream. The blur effect BB Cream helps conceal imperfections and contains SPF 30 and the Anti Blemish BB Cream is oil free with a mattifying effect that’s suitable for blemished and combination to oily skin.

The next product is the Match BB Lip Balm that has customised shades that adapt to your lips according to your lips PH Balance.

Flormar also came out with an Extreme Matte Lipstick. The first thing that caught my eye with this lipstick is the really interesting bullet shape that it has. It is SO pretty! When one of the bloggers pointed this out to me I went to pick up one of the lipsticks… you know.. to have a better look at the shape, and I low key hit it with my nail and ruined it. Shh!

Anyway… This lippie is meant to be very matte and not drying on the lips. It’s worth getting this just to look at the diamond shape of it. I won’t hit yours, I promise.

Finally, there’s the new Satin Matte Blush hat comes in six different shades and the packaging comes with a tiny brush and a small mirror. I love how the packaging of this lets you see the colour of the blush from inside while also containing a small mirror. I love this packaging from Flormar.

That’s it!

Do go check out the new store in Paceville and check out these new products.

Thank you Flormar Malta for inviting me to this awesome event!

Pupa Milano BB Cream + Anti Eta’ Review

Pupa Milano’s Importers in Malta recently sent me this Pupa Professionals BB Cream + Anti-Eta’. I haven’t used BB Creams in a while so I was very excited about trying this Pupa Milano BB Cream.

I’m going to go ahead and say that this has been my favourite BB Cream I’ve ever tried and I see myself using this for a long long time. That said, this Pupa Milano BB Cream is not perfect and it does have its pros and cons. So let’s get into it.

Pupa BB Cream

Pupa BB Cream

The product comes in a tube that lets you squeeze out the product and it comes in a box. It promises to be

  • A Moisturising Tinted cream
  • Anti Aging Treatment
  • Anti-Wrinkles Action
  • For All Skin Types
  • SPF 30
  • Oil free

Those are quite a lot of claims!

Let’s start with a swatch of the Pupa Milano BB Cream. I got the shade 001 and here’s what it looks like squeezed out onto the back of my arm, then blended onto my arm and  tidied up into a rectangle (with a wet wipe) so that you can see the difference with and without the product. It has a sheer to medium coverage and the finish is very natural, I would say demi-matte. Not greasy dewy, not matte, but leaves the skin with a beautiful healthy glow.

As for the pros and cons of this product, I’ll start off with the biggest con with this product: It’s fragranced. It’s very lightly fragranced but fragrance in skincare products is not a good thing, it can irritate sensitive skin. That said, the fragrance is very gentle and I really liked it. While wearing it I kept thinking to myself, “wow I smell good today”, then remembering that nobody else can smell this lovely smell because I’m smelling the BB Cream that’s right under my nostril. I enjoyed smelling my nostrils anyway.

This BB Cream has SPF30, that’s more than a regular foundation but I do prefer to wear SPF 50 here in sunny Malta. When wearing this I still put on my SPF 50 under it.

As for anti-ageing, it does have vitamin E and beeswax. Although Vitamin E is a an antioxidant, it’s not going to slow down the ageing process but it will prevent from premature ageing that may be caused by free radicals. As with all anti ageing products, I take these claims with a pinch of salt, but I do love Vitamin E on my skin. The beeswax works great at sealing in the moisture.

Now onto what I LOVE this product for and why I can’t see myself putting it down any time soon. It smoothes out the texture of my skin quite impeccably, it does a way better job at this than the Benefit Porefessional, the product that all beauty gurus worldwide rave about. I haven’t yet worn it under foundation so I don’t know how it would behave as a primer, I do love how it looks by itself.

It feels very light on my skin, almost like I’m not wearing anything. Some days I don’t like to wear heavy foundations because I don’t want to feel anything on my skin and this product is perfect for those days. I never had a product that felt like this while making my skin look so nice.

In the picture below I’m wearing it as my foundation, I put on some Maybelline Dark Circle Erase concealer under my eyes and set everything with some Mac Mineralize Skinfinish powder. It did make my concealer crease just a tiny bit and after a few hours, it did crease a little bit around my nose. This might be because I put on a bit too much in those areas. After 8 hours of wear it didn’t wear off and it kept that demi-matte finish without any shine. The creasing isn’t enough to stop me from loving this because a quick blend with my finger blended it out to look freshly applied again with no weird patches.

All in all, I’m very impressed with this, particularly because of how it smoothes out my skin’s texture and because of its demi-matte finish that doesn’t turn greasy throughout the day.

It’s a beautiful pinky coral shade that has a sheer to medium coverage, feels moisturising on my hand and has a bit of a glossy finish. Next, I got the BB Cream + Anti Eta in 001 with SPF 30 (yass for more SPF). Here’s what it looks like swatched on my hand. I haven’t worn this yet but it does feel very moisturising and it has a dewy finish to it. I would say that its a medium coverage, certainly more coverage than I expected out of a BB Cream with anti ageing benefits. This retails for €16.60

My daily makeup products — Day 2 of the 30 Days of Beauty Challenge

Screen Shot 2015-06-14 at 12.42.07

I change up my look quite a lot but these are products that I have used practically everyday since I bought them. I didn’t include a lipstick because I wear different lipsticks everyday and you already know which one is my favourite 🙂

Here’s the list of products and mini descriptions of my relationship with them 🙂

BB Cream: Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream in No. 23. I mix this in with my matte foundation and it give me some added moisture, SPF and other benefits that come along with the BB Cream. I mainly use it for the moisture and because mixed with my matte foundation, it gives me a more natural finish while staying matte all day.

Foundation: Boots No. 7 Beautifully Matte in Warm Ivory. This is a very matte and very full coverage foundation. I don’t like wearing this by itself because it’s too much, especially for an everyday look. That said, when mixed in with my BB cream it gives me the perfect finish that lasts all day.

Concealer: Mac Pro Longwear in NW20. I’m hopelessly addicted to this concealer. It gives me an amazing perfect natural yet full coverage and doesn’t crease. I love the product but I hate the packaging. It comes in a glass container that can easily break (as I’ve seen online) and the pump isn’t great either. With foundation pumps, I can generally get half a pump of foundation if I need it. This pump is quite stiff so it’s hard to get less than one full pump of product. The LA Girl pro concealer is a very close runner up but the Mac Pro Longwear Concealer certainly beats the LA Girl concealer for its longevity.

Setting powder: Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder. I usually go for this powder or for the Ben Nye Neutral Set powder that’s white and translucent. I’ve been using this Banana powder more frequently lately and it’s because it’s more finely milled and the yellow hue helps with my redness. If I’m being fancy, I use this banana powder on my red areas and the neutral set powder on other areas that don’t need neutralising. Most days I’m lazy and just go in with one powder to set my whole face.

Highlight: The Balm Cosmetics Mary Lou-Manizer. This is certainly my new go to highlight. I used to wear the Sleek highlight from the Face Form palette but I recently bought this and it’s better by a mile. It’s more finely milled, the shimmer is more fine and if used sparingly it can look like a very natural highlight. It’s very pigmented and a little goes a long way. If you want a very highlighted look, you can certainly achieve it with this product as well.

Contour: LA Girl Pro Concealer in Beautiful Bronze. This is my new favourite contour product. I got this recently and I haven’t turned back to my other contour products since. This took me a couple of goes to figure out how to make it work for me as a contour. I found that if I use too much product it can look very muddy and brushes are not great at blending this. I use this by applying it sparingly and blending with my Real Techniques Miracle Sponge. It looks very natural on me and I love it.

Blush: Milani Blush in Coral Cove. I am really impressed with Milani products lately. I love this blush and I also love their Color Statement lipsticks. This is moulded into this gorgeous rose. I’ve used this product a lot since I got it and the rose still has it’s shape. It’s a very pigmented product and a little goes a long way. It’s very matte and it’s easy to blend. If I’m being extra fancy I like putting some of the Milani Baked blush in Luminoso over this to give this a sheen. They work really well together.

Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Dark Brown. I bought this product last month and I have since not touched my Sleek Eyebrow Kit. This is certainly my holy grail brow product. Working with this also has a bit of a learning curve. Using too much product with this can make brows look very drawn on. I like using it in areas where I need to fill in and I do so with a very light hand. It matches my brow colour perfectly and I think it looks very natural on me (when I’m not going for a power brow, that is).

Eyeshadow Base: Mac Cosmetics Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. This is a really perfect eyeshadow base for me. I used to use the Urban Decay Primer Potion which used to work well for giving my eyeshadows longevity. This paint pot however, works really well for giving me a blank canvas to work with and it works just as well as the Urban Decay Primer Potion for keeping my eyeshadows in place all day.

Eyeshadows: My everyday eyeshadow look varies a lot from day to day. That said, my skin toned DeliPlus eyeshadow (that I depotted and put in my Z Palette) and the shades Creme Brulee and Latte from Makeup Geek are the start of most of my everyday makeup looks.

Eyeliner: Physician’s Formula 2 in 1 Lash Booster Eyeliner + Serum in Ultra Black and NYC Liquid Liner in Jet Black. I honestly can’t get enough of my Physicians’ formula eyeliner. It’s the easiest eyeliner I’ve ever worked with. It has a brush tip and the product comes out of the brush itself in the perfect amount. It’s very easy to get a very precise line with this. The only downside to the Physician’s Formula eyeliner is that it doesn’t dry matte. I prefer a matte finish for my eyeliner and to achieve that, I go in with my NYC Liquid Liner in Jet Black for that perfect matte finish. High maintenance, I know.

Mascara: Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama. I’m currently using this mascara. I have other open mascaras that I sometimes use but this is certainly my favourite for wearing by itself. It gives me length, volume and it doesn’t flake up on me. Its downside is that it can go clumpy. I find that it’s best to use a lash comb with this to get rid of unwanted clumps.

And that’s it! I hope that you enjoyed my little descriptions of my daily makeup products. I use… A lot. I love makeup. If you ever meet me and I’m not wearing much makeup, just know that I’m probably having a very bad day.
