MFWA2017: Gaetano

Gaetano recently opened his own outlet in Hamrun and as soon as you step in, you will know that he LOVES his divas. With pictures of Mariah Carey, Cher and other bold women, you can see Gaetano’s muse. This year’s show had that same theme, Divas!

This is very fitting for Gaetano because he’s the fashion designer of some of Malta’s top Divas, including our very own Eurovision stars, Claudia Faniello and Destiny Chukunyere

Every single model looked stunning in her outfit that was perfectly fitted. I’ve had the privilege of seeing some of these dresses up close and I can tell you that they are incredibly well made and beautifully finished.

Gaetano had a little surprise in store for us. At the end of the show, the beautiful and talented Claudia Faniello walked down the runway in the same dress that she wore during the Eurovision Song Contest that Gaetano himself designed. And she sang Breathlessly! It was a fantastic ending to a stunning runway show.

I did have a few favourite outfits. I got chills when I saw this lace number with a long feather boa and a tiara. This is right up my alley. Check out some of my other favourites below…

Rose gold makeup look

I’ve been unwell lately and managed to land myself a four day stay in hospital because of a very bad chest infection. I’m finally starting to feel better even though I’m not 100% yet. I haven’t put on makeup in over a week (that’s when you know that I’m really unwell) and today I thought I’d pull myself together, whip out my Stila Magnificent Metals glitter in rose gold and play with it. I’ll talk more about the product in a future post, but here’s the look I wore today.

Lately I’ve been enjoying the no eyeliner look. Although… here I wore big lashes with a black lash band and it looks like I’m wearing eyeliner anyway. For the eye look I simply put on a crease shadow that’s slightly darker than my natural skin tone then went in with the Stila Magnificent Metals product and used it as my lid shadow. I loved it.

On my lips I’m wearing a Sephora cream lip stain in a metallic peachy shade.

So yeah… I feel like this is a makeup look that makes me look alive. I enjoyed wearing it 🙂

My Inglot Freedom System Trio Palette

Inglot Freedom System Khaki Trio

Inglot Freedom System Khaki Trio

Inglot’s Freedom System allows you to pick and choose your own shades of eyeshadows and make up your own, customised eyeshadow palette. When i first heard about this system I just thought it was a copy of the Z palette. However, I realised that this is different since Inglot’s palette has little slots for the pans to fit into that are also magnetic. I find the slots to be more neat and tidy than having your shadows lying anywhere on your palette. Also, the separation between the shadows is better at preventing pigments from one shadow to contaminate another nearby shadow, therefore this is better at keeping shadows pristine.

The shades I got are AMC Shine 26, Pearl 419 and Pearl 433.

Number 26 is a beautiful and pigmented light gold shadow that’s gorgeous for highlighting the inner corner of the eye. If you have a darker complexion than mine, this might also work as a beautiful highlight shade. 419 is a muted olive green with an antique gold sheen and 433 is a lightened olive green with gold.

I find that these shadows apply very smoothly but although the gold shadow is very pigmented, I find the two other shades to be less so. That said, they can be very easily built up and they’re very smooth. These last all day and they look beautiful.

I love the look that I was able to create with these shadows, I love these earth tones and these shadows are very easy to work with.

My only comment about the freedom system palette is that once the eyeshadows are in the palette, it’s quite difficult to get them back out. As for the lid, it’s quite a nice sturdy lid with very strong magnets (it’s not going anywhere) but I do find it quite tricky to open/close.

All in all, I do highly recommend the Freedom System by Inglot and these shadows in particular. I love that you can customise your own palette, I like how the palette has slots for the shadows, and the shadows themselves are great value for money.

Finally, here’s the look I created with them 😀

What my makeup dreams are made of

This morning I reluctantly woke up to the sound of my alarm clock and got out of a dream about makeup. When I woke up and thought about my dream, I realised that during my dream I was specifically thinking of two/three products and therefore, I thought I’d share my dream, and my favourite products during my dream! haha

Ok, so my dream was set in my office. I work with a big tech company and on 99% of the people I work with are men. In my section of the building I’m the only woman and there are about 100 men. Yet, a makeup store opened in a meeting room RIGHT NEXT TO MY DESK!

In my dream, the meeting room was actually a lot bigger than any meeting rooms nearby my desk and this room was full to the brim with floor to ceiling jam packed displays of makeup. Makeup everywhere, it was like makeup heaven! I wish I could take a photo of the makeup store in my dream.

I thought it was urgent that I go to this shop as soon as possible, and I spotted a few products that I planned on stocking up on and buying all the shop’s stock of these products… You know, in case one of the 100 men on my floor decided to go to this makeup shop and buy them instead of me.

So here’s what I wanted to buy.

1. The Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Mascara

It’s been ages since I last used this mascara. I was given one of these in a Revlon  Malta PR event when this was first launched and I never wrote about it here BUT… It obviously left an impression. This mascara is beautiful. It does indeed give volume and length and it’s also not clumpy. I’m actually surprised that this is the mascara I dreamt about because at the moment I’m also quite loving the Catrice Multimiser Mascara that I started using a few weeks ago. This mascara also gives me fantastic volume and length and looks fantastic. My only issue with it is that it falls under my eyes during the day. I’ve still been wearing it almost daily though.

2. Pupa Milano Anti Eta BB Cream

This is the second product that I spotted and thought that I should frantically buy all the available stock from the shop. Obviously, I can’t let the men buy this! What if I can’t get hold of it when I want to? I wrote a review about this a while back and this is a product that I still really love. (Clearly!)

There was actually a third product that I was considering purchasing all the available stock of and his is the Revlon Colorstay foundation, my long time top favourite foundation. But then I told myself no, I’m liking the Estee Lauder Double Wear better and for the price difference, the Double Wear is worth it.

Then my alarm went off. 🙁

Pink and Gold Makeup Look

Modern Renaissance Palette Makeup Look

I realised that I haven’t taken a proper makeup selfie in a while and finally, today I had the time to sit down, put on some of my recent makeup favourites and take a photo (all while Carmelo was impatiently yelling at me to tell me that we’re going to be late for meeting up with some friends, of course).

In this makeup look I’m wearing quite a few products that I haven’t mentioned here and they really do deserve some spotlight. In this post I’m just going to mention some of the products that I’m currently really excited about 🙂

For foundation I’m using the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation. I got this back in Gibraltar last month and I’m absolutely loving it. High coverage, not cakey and it lasts all day. I’ve tried samples of this foundation before and I’ve always loved it. I always used to wear the Revlon Colorstay foundation but I think this one is very slightly better. The only drawback with this foundation is that it doesn’t come with a pump.

Now as for setting powder, I never thought it would be possible to have a favourite setting powder, and I never thought that a setting powder could make so much of a difference to my life. I’ve been using the RCMA no colour powder and honestly, this  powder is worth ALL of the hype! It’s very finely milled, not drying and sooo perfect in every way. It makes my skin look poreless and it sets my makeup to make it last all day. This is one truly spectacular powder that everybody needs.

Another favourite I’m wearing here, and I’ve been wearing quite a lot since I got it for Xmas, is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. This is another makeup item that caught me by surprise. I had been seeing many reviews about it and many makeup looks so when Carmelo’s sister, Sole, gave me the Modern Renaissance palette for Xmas (she also gave me the RCMA powder <3 ) I was really excited to try it out. This is also an other product that’s all it’s hyped up to be. The colours are gorgeous, it’s quite versatile and I can’t get enough of it!

Another product worth mentioning are the false lashes that I’m wearing. These are the Belle Lash SHER lashes. They’re very natural looking, light weight and easy to wear. I used my Essence lash glue with these and I didn’t feel them all night and they stayed on. I love these!
