Lidl Cien Foundation in 020 Natural Beige | Review

My mum recently went to Lidl and told me that their foundation was in stock. She tried it and loved it and encouraged me to go pick one up for myself and give it a go. So I went to Lidl and picked up the Lidl Cien Foundation in 020 Natural Beige.

This comes in a 30ml squeeze tube and the packaging is plastic. I picked up the shade 020 Natural Beige but I can’t say that I did the best of jobs at picking out a shade for myself. Below you can see what this foundation looks like squeezed out onto the back of my hand and blended in. It has a very pink undertone and although it matches me very well, I like foundations that reduce the appearance of my redness. I usually prefer foundations that are less pink than this but not extremely yellow.

This has a sheer coverage that’s buildable to a medium coverage and the finish is semi matte. It’s not a greasy dewy finish but it’s not matte either. Very natural in finish which I quite like.

Below you can see a before and after shot of what it looks like on my face and at the end of the post you can see a final makeup look where I wear this foundation. The left photo is my cleansed, toned and moisturised face and in the right photo I’m only wearing the foundation. As you can see, my skin still looks pink but it did even out my complexion and left me with a semi matte, natural finish.

This does stick to my skin nicely, it doesn’t look like it’s sitting on my skin and doesn’t rub off easily. In terms of wear time, it stays put on my face all day but after about four hours of wear I start looking quite oily on my t-zone. If I apply two layers of this for a medium coverage, I start looking oily even sooner. After blotting my face with oil blotting sheets, the foundation stays put and my shine is gone.

In terms of my skin’s texture, this foundation doesn’t blur out my open pores or fine lines. That said, that’s probably asking too much out of a foundation that costs about 4EUR. It also doesn’t have any SPF.

All in all, I can recommend this foundation if you’re looking for an affordable sheer to medium coverage foundation and you don’t have oily skin. If you want to spend more money on a similar foundation, I would recommend the Pupa Milano Anti Eta’ BB Cream. That has a similar coverage and finish but doesn’t make me oily throughout the day. It also has Vitamin E and Beeswax to nourish the skin, SPF 30, and it smoothes out my open pores and fine lines beautifully.
