Here’s a mini review of the Mac Chili Lipstick. It’s a brownish/orangey red with a matte finish. I don’t find Mac’s lipsticks in the Matte finish to be completely Matte, their Retro Matte finish is more matte than these. That’s not to say that I don’t like the finish, but more of a warning so that you don’t expect a completely matte lip with this.
The lipstick is very pigmented and has the typical Mac lipstick vanilla scent that I don’t mind. It’s not drying on the lips but it’s not moisturising either. I find that this leaves my lips in the state they were before applying.
It wears well but it’s not transfer-proof. If you eat or drink, this will go onto the glass. However, like other Mac matte lipsticks that I’ve tried, the colour tends to remain rich on the lips if you attempt to eat carefully and not wipe it off. After eating while wearing this, the inner centre of the lipstick faded to somewhat of a stain from the lipstick so it looked quite even overall anyway.
When removing this, I was expecting to be left with stained lips, like a few other Mac matte lipsticks I tried, but it didn’t. It removed very easily and didn’t leave a stain on my lips. I was very pleased with this because I’m never a fan of scrubbing off stains from my lips.
Overall, I’m in love with this lipstick at the moment, mostly because of the colour but I also really appreciate that it wears well and doesn’t stain my lips.
Here’s a look I wore with this lipstick so that you can see how it looks with the rest of my makeup.
